The CYA Yacht Register listings are located at https://ClassicYachtInfo.org. (Note the "Info" suffix, making this URL different from our regular site pages at ClassicYacht.org.) Here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions about these listings:
-
Why a different URL?
-
Our membership site is part of a general-purpose membership information system (called Wild Apricot) which is specifically tailored to provide a standard website display, event listings, applications and renewals, etc. But our extensive database of classic yachts is too complex to be included in Wild Apricot -- it consists of a complex trove of information, images, and files, with advanced searching and sorting capabilities, and is built on a "Content Management System" (Backdrop CMS) and Structured Query Language database (MySQL) that needs its own web server location.
-
To accommodate these differences, we have chosen to use the URL "ClassicYacht.org" for our main membership site, and "ClassicYachtInfo.org" for our Yacht Register listings. (Note, these designations are not case-sensitive.)

Where are the yacht listings?
-
The yacht listing URL's are generally found in the form of https://classicyachtinfo.org/yachts/yacht-name, where "yacht-name" is the current name of the yacht.
- Note that spaces are converted to dashes, so "Sea Gal II" will be listed as "sea-gal-ii".
- If there are more than one yacht with the same name, they are sometimes distinguished by their build year appended to the name. As an example: the "Riptide" built in 1927 is listed as "riptide-1927", whereas the other Riptide, which was a CYA member before the 1927 one, is listed just as "riptide".
-
When in doubt, use the Search function to find the yacht you're looking for. Searching on "Riptide" will list both Riptide's for you to choose from. There is a Search box on the Home page, or from the Main Menu, under the Archives tab.

I clicked on a link from another site that was supposed to go to the CYA Yacht Register listing, but I got an error message.
-
There may be some old links to previous site listings. If you can edit the URL in your browser, you can add "info" after classicyacht, and replace "boats" with "yachts", and it should work to take you to the right place.
-
When you come across bad links like this, please notify the site admin of the problem, and suggest they make the above changes to fix the problem. Or if you prefer you can forward the bad link location to us, and we'll take care of it.

Why are there boats on our site that are not currently owned by members?
-
The CYA Yacht Register includes only those vessels approved by the Yacht Registration Committee, and who's owners are current CYA members. However, in the interest of tracking other worthy vessels -- including boats formerly owned by members, and other yachts of historical or other significance -- we maintain listings for these vessels on our site as well, identified as "Archived" yachts. This contributes to our mission as a non-profit educational organization by providing details on these vessels for education and research purposes.
The status for each vessel in our database is clearly identified on the listing pages, and we encourage owners of unregistered yachts to become CYA members and support our efforts.

How can I contribute to the Yacht Register listings?
-
Keep your yacht's listing up-to-date. Contact the admin by email, or use the Update form (link below) to provide additions, corrections, etc. Note, the YR listing information is often used in newsletters, Facebook posts, etc. So keep that in mind when writing your boat's historical narrative.
-
Report problems with other vessel listings -- incorrect information, bad links, etc. Also, send us additional photos or information about other boats.
-
Provide comments on other vessels using the comment link on each vessel's page. (These are moderated, so allow a few days for your comments to be posted.)
-
Contribute articles or info to the Archives tab. These are mostly pages of information about various builders and designers. We welcome additional builder or designer listings, but also any other informative articles. (See the Wartime Vessels, or Lake Union Dreamboat articles for examples.)
-
Do you have web development skills? We welcome additional moderators and contributors, and can provide direct access to qualified individuals to help build and maintain these pages.
