Historical Summary:
Skookum Maru was built in Japan in 1956. Designed by Ed Monk, Sr., she has cruised the Inside Passage to Alaska several times. "Skookum" is derived from the local Native American language, and means "strong." "Maru" is Japenese for :full circle" - the Japanese consider a boat a full circle.
